Free late payment interest calculator

What can you claim on a late invoice?

When another business pays you late, the law lets you claim interest at 8% plus the Bank of England base rate, and a fixed sum for the cost of chasing it. Enter the invoice and the dates, and see what you can claim, day by day.

The calculator needs JavaScript to work out the figures.

Your right to claim

Between businesses, where no other rate is agreed.

Statutory interest

8% plus the Bank of England base rate, for business to business transactions. You cannot claim it if your contract sets a different rate.

The base rate it uses

The base rate on 30 June or 31 December before the payment became late. It stays fixed for that debt.

A fixed sum on top

£40 for a debt up to £999.99, £70 from £1,000 to £9,999.99, and £100 for £10,000 or more - once per payment. Send a new invoice to claim it.
