Fees, payment methods and security

What it costs, how people pay, and who holds the money.

Fees

The provider charges its own fee on each payment, shown before you switch payments on and recorded against each one. No Stoneledger fee on payments has been set; if one ever is, it will be shown before you switch on and only where the provider's agreement allows it.

How customers pay

The ways to pay will be the provider's, and are confirmed with it before payments open. This page will list them then - nothing is promised before it is confirmed.

Security

Payments are taken by an authorised provider on its own secure pages. Stoneledger never sees card details and never holds or passes on your money; it hears the outcome from the provider and updates your books.

Questions

What businesses ask first.

Can I take payments through Stoneledger now?

Not yet. It is being built, and opens only once an authorised payment provider, its agreement and the UK regulatory position are in place. Today you can put your own payment page on every invoice in Stoneledger.

Does Stoneledger hold my money?

No, and it never will. Payments go from your customer to you through an authorised provider; Stoneledger is told what happened and updates your books.

What will it cost?

The provider's own fee on each payment, which you will see before switching payments on. No Stoneledger fee has been set; if one ever is, it will be shown before you switch on.

What happens with a part-payment or a refund?

Each is recorded against its invoice as it happens: a part-payment leaves the rest owing, a refund puts it back, and a failed payment changes nothing.

Will it replace how I bill for Stoneledger itself?

No. This is for your own customers paying your invoices; your Stoneledger subscription is billed separately, as now.
